Can I use Windows 8 on the CD

Hello I just would like to know if I can use the CD with Windows 8 on it?
I got pre-build PC and it had windows 8 on it so I assume that who ever build my computer used this CD that came with the computer. Now I upgraded the Windows 8 on to Windows 10 on that PC, not sure if that affects my question,
but I have the old laptop and I would like to use the CD to install Windows 8 on it, from Windows vista, is that possible/legal? to do this sort of thing.

It may install on the Vista PC. Whether it activates or not is another matter.

You cant activate the same key twice on 2 different systems. If thats what youre asking

I thought as much, is the a way to reinstall the Windows vista not just do system recovery? i don't have the Windows vista CD, just the recovery CD.

The activation key for that copy of Windows 8 is no longer valid, having been consumed and converted into a Windows 10 key by the upgrade. While you may be able to install it, you will not be able to activate it without purchasing another license.

I see thanks that's is really good to know this, but is there a way to reinstall the Windows vista with out the CD?
