Hi guys,

I'm planning to upgrade my motherboard and cpu to Skylake. Now I'm using FX8320 with R9 280X. I'm planning to buy Z170A motherboard with the i3 6100. Can i3 6100 handle the R9 280X Vapor-X ? PSU is 650W.

Assuming he's not planning to upgrade to a K-series unlocked processor later that is. 650W is more than enough for that hardware.

We shouldn't make assumptions like so unless he specifically specifies that he's planning to upgrade. And even if he does upgrade to a "K" CPU, you still don't need a Z170 motherboard - you simply don't overclock. They have higher stock clocks anyway, so you still get that benefit.

I forgot to say it guys I'm planning to upgrade to at least an i5 6600K after a time. Now I dont want to spend too much for it. I'll use i3 for a short time and after a short period I'll upgrade to i5

So guys, I think it will be ok to use i3 6100 with R9 280X for a while right? I want to buy Z170 because in the future I'll upgrade to i5-6600K or a better one. This i3 6100 will be just for a short time.

Did your 8320 bottleneck the r9 280x? Im just curious.
