can it happen?

also will secure os like black arch linux help to hide the serial numbers?

thanks for letting me know

in the past i've spoken out against a totalitarian regime, afterwhich my home was broken into where my PC was accessed while I was out, with the bios updated despite no wifi or ethernet in home, then my bank deposit box was accessed by an unknown party with my Canadian ID card taken out. my emails have all been logged into by someone from said totalitarian nation

im worried about myself, not trying to commit crime or hack

Physical access could have gathered much information. When you access the Internet, your CPU and memory serial numbers aren't used.

An ISP could technically access your network and devices.

Since the break-in, have you secured your network and devices more than before?

thanks for clearing the isp part for me. and yes my PC was physically accessed so the totalatarian regime have its serials now, so I am reluctant to voice my opinion online out of fear of being harassed by them again....since I hadn't broke the law so the totalatarian regime is only harassing me.

recently i learnt of secure linux os so I thought that might help to secure my PC or something, since it seem easier than learning how to change the hardware serials and whatnot, but oh well.

There are hardware devices (network adapters and their MAC addresses) that can be used to track activity, this includes your router, cable modem, etc. Then, of course, there are local concerns regarding government oversight of ISPs and the activity they must report.

A secure OS won't address all of these concerns.
