Can laptop HDD be used in a pc SSD slot?

Hi, my laptop finally gave up after five years of usage. I will sell it for what i can but I wanted to use the 500gb HDD in my pc. I know it is slow, but could it be used in the ssd slot as they both are 2.5" or does it require a 3.5" slot?

Yes, you can use it in a desktop PC, no problem. As long as it is a SATA drive, and you have a free 2.5" slot in your desktop case to mount it (and technically speaking you even don't need it - you could just screw one side of the drive, or simply get a drive bay converter from 3.5 inch to 2.5 inch) you are good to go.
