Can LLC be the problem ?

Hey, i got an fx-8120 and 990fxa-ud3 mobo rev 1.0

this rvision mobo doesent have LLC and can that be the cause of why I cant reach over 4.0ghz at 1.35v ? I cant even get a stable 4.2 without going 1.45V or more which aboslutely skyrocket my temps (hyper 212 evo).

What could be the problem ? Thanks!

Not all cpus will overclock well, its just a fact of life....

I find LLC hampers my clocking efforts, 975be,
not sure if that holds with Vishes or Bulldozers as well though

Fx-8120 and a corsair gs600 psu

Cant get above 4.0ghz no matter what voltage i put.
Is it the CPU or MOBO problem ?

Update to latest bios, standard practice before clocking
But even after that you may have to accept that your chip just doesn't want to do 4GHz+
my old x3 435 hits 3.5GHz happily on stock cooler, my Gf's won't go over 3.2GHz, its just the luck of the draw,
its not a problem, its just the limit of your particular chip

i have a rev 1.0 mobo and F9 bios, still no LLC in bios to be found anywhere

You'll have to work with what you have then, but like I said, I find LLC caused more issues that it solved,
I'd say set to 3.9GHz and just enjoy your rig

To understand what the problem is, you need to do an analog simulation of the PCB and related silicon...
Or you can take the advice of the engineers that do that for an living and stay in the lines.

If you want more performance, why not look to where the waste is?

Of if there is an actual performance problem get appropriate hardware.
