Can LoadShedding damage a Video Card?

Hi,
I created my account just for this question. I brought a new Gaming Rig with a pretty expensive graphic card (Nvidia GTX 980). But the problem is that unfortunately I live in a country where power breakdowns are a common thing. They occur randomly. Can it damage my new CPU? if yes then how can I protect it?I searched the net, some said about surge protectors, will this protect my CPU?

Yes load shedding can damage your PC components especially those that need constant stable power like the cpu and the graphics card. Sometimes even the motherboards may be affected. You can lower the risk by using a very high quality power supply unit like XFX, Antec, Corsair HX/AX units, etc. Seasonic and EVGA are best if it is available in your country. Other then that use a surge protected power strip with isolated fuse and power the machine through a UPS or Uninterruptible Power Supply of 800VA or greater. Apollo, powertech, etc are good UPS brand.

It will lower the risk but not completely. It is still better than nothing though. Surge protected and fused power strip with high quality power supply is a good combination but the chance of damage will always remain especially if the power outage are very common and frequent.
