Question Can Mini DP 1.2 to HDMI support 1440p 120hz?

I've got an Asus G751JY laptop I'd like to connect to my OLED65C2PUA monitor/TV (might actually be OLED65C2PUB) to game at 1440p 120hz. I believe the laptop's Mini DP is 1.2 which I believe supports 1440p 120hz, but the LGC2 monitor only has HDMI ports, and I'm having difficulty finding a solution to convert Mini DP to HDMI to achieve 1440p 120hz.

https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/fe152b34 the (PUA versions says only 4x HDMI 2.1)

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

i've never seen a C2 branded monitor.
and never seen a modern monitor that didn't accept DisplayPort.

are you sure this is an actual LG product?

i've never seen many reliable companies producing converters like this.
most instances i've come across have lead to users purchasing and returning multiple options before deciding on a different route.

this laptop really only has a miniDP available or just cannot output 1440p 120Hz through it's HDMI port(s)?

Thanks for the response.

Monitor model is OLED65C2PUA, though the Best Buy electronic inventory record showed OLED65C2PUB with a B at the end, which I think is the OEM version, but was marketed as PUA. I think the sales guy shrugged it off as a labelling error to get the sale moving along. I too was surprised with the absence of a DP input.

I have to test the HDMI port to see if it supports 1440p at 120hz. I believe the Mini DP supports G-Sync while the HDMI does not. Any suggestion on how to properly test and confirm the HDMI output?

Displayport on TVs isn't something you'd usually find. However Dp to Hdmi adapters do exist. You'll need an active adapter, at least DP 1.2 to Hdmi 2.0 spec adapter.

Put DP to Hdmi in fields, read through it then see active adapters suggested at the end.

C2 supports Gsync over Hdmi 2.1 with compatible 30 series graphics card or laptop, you lose vrr with adapters though.

It has HDMI output, I think it's HDMI 1.4, but through some research I think it only goes to 75hz with a custom resolution, but some people say ot can do up to 144hz. Will custom resolution cause more strain on my hardware? Someone said customer res is technically over overclocking.

If I buy an HDMI 2.1 cable, will it be backwards compatible with the HDMI 1.4 output to the TV's HDMI 2.1 input? (I'd want to future proof the cable purchase in case I upgrade my other gaming rig's GPU).

I likely won't go above 75hz for the games I play on the Asus G751JY laptop, but having headroom for 120hz+ would be ideal to actualize the OLED65C2's performance if I play less graphically intense games.

Nvidia Control Panel shows the HDMI port supporting 1440p at 120hz. Since this laptop doesn't seem to support G-Sync, I suppose there's no real point in worrying about using the Mini-DP port to connect to an HDMI input on this TV.

Good to know the active Mini-DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 can be used to achieve 1440p 120hz should I need to use the port, though.

Thanks for your time and support everyone.
