Can my CPU support this processor?

I have a Gateway DX4300 (AMD Phenom II X4 810 2.6GHz) Quad Core PC and it's feeling a bit slow. There's an amazon sale for this ..

People say you need an AM3+ chipset. I was wondering if I do?

Would need to know more about the motherboard. I'd look up the technical data on your PC to find out, but I imagine that you'd want a new motherboard.

Yes, you'll need an AM3+ motherboard to run that CPU. Overall budget? Might be easier to build a new system.

The FX Cpu uses a AM3+ socket, the motherboard of your pc has a AM2 socket, sadly, you cant use a AM3+ CPU on a AM2 socket.

Yes, most of the times its always better to build a new machine than spend money on old and dead platform.
