So I recently upgraded my monitor on my main pc and now since I have a spare monitor, I wanted to plug it to my laptop. But when i plugged the hdmi to the laptop it would only let me use it on 60hz no matter if resolutions is 2560x1440 or 1920x1080.
I also bought hdmi 2.0 because i didn’t know if the hdmi i took was capable of having full hd more than 60hz but it didin’t work. I don’t understand about pc’s/laptops much or even at all so i my question basically is can my laptop even run my laptop even have the option to run 144hz in either of those resoliutions on the monitor?

My laptop:Katana GF76 12UE (1920x1080 144hz)
My monitor:Acer Predator XB271HU 27inch (2560x1440 144hz can be overclocked to 165hz)
Info about the laptop

The manual shows that monitor only supports 60Hz over HDMI. You would need to use display port but the laptop doesn’t have DP. I don’t if there is any adapter that would allow you to connect HDMI output to DP, I doubt a passive cable would do it.
