Question Can my microphone lower my windows sound?

I just made a loud noise into my microphone (Cloud alpha headset) and after, my voice kept cutting out/ was really quiet. After some troubleshooting it seems my windows microphone volume output was only at 60, so I raised it to 100 and I think the microphone is back to normal. I was just wondering, could my headset have lowered my volume in windows because of the loud noise?

It's unlikely, but I suppose it's possible if any kind of feedback or out of spec gain was detected I guess. I've never seen that but I guess it can happen. Probably more of an application specific problem than a Windows or Mic issue.

You might try these options to disable any ability for automatic mic gain adjustments.
