Hi guys,
I have 'ASUSTeK Computer INC. V-P5G31 (Socket 775)' motherboard. I currently am running Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 cpu, my computer is quite slow and I wanted to upgrade my cpu to an i3 or i5. Is there any i3 or i5 my motherboard would support? Also, I'm running 2x2gb of DDR2 ram, would you say upgrading that would help improve it's speed? All I want to do is browse internet fast and use photoshop fast.
Thank you!

heres the cpu support list for that PC, Core 2 Extreme QX series quad core CPU would be the fastest CPU you could get for that board, if you can find one, bit old now, have a look on ebay, get the model...
You would need a new motherboard ; CORE i-series processors were introduced on the LGA1156 socket ; for anything modern you'll need LGA1151 socket, proper BIOS for the CPU in some cases, an LGA 1151 CPU, and DDR4 Memory.

If you got the money, a Pentium G4560, 8 GB of RAM, and B250 motherboard can be had for under $250 brand new. A CORE i3 6100, 8 GB of RAM, and an H110 motherboard can be had for a little more but they're readily in stock basically anywhere.

What would be the most powerful cpu my motherboard could handle?

you can pick up a QX9650 quad core 12mb cache from ebay for about £80, which is very good as they were probably about £600 on first release.
