Can my old HP rp5800 handle a gtx 1050

Hi, I have a HP rp5800 and here are my specs:
i5 2400 LGA 1155
4gb pc3 10600 ddr3 240 pin ram
Toshiba 500gb HDD sata 7200rpm
One fan
Radeon 7000 series
240w 80 plus gold 90% efficient psu

I was wondering if a gigabyte gtx 1050 oc 2 gddr5 lp would be compatible power wise, I don't know my motherboard model but I have a prebuilt HP rp5800, someone please help me thanks.

It should be fine. A i5-2400 and GTX 1050 system will probably draw about 160W together at the plug. If you want to be safe and get a GT 1030 (<35W); that's preferable if you can't risk blowing a 6 year old proprietary PSU. (Although in the US, it looks like pulled PSUs are pretty cheap.) HP shipped <20W cards discrete with them.

I've run Maxwell and Kepler cards in similar vintage Dell and HP systems and they work fine. Polaris is a different story.

But doesn't the PCIE give a limited amount of with old motherboard s like mine like some motherboards can only give out 35w max to the GPU, my motherboard doesn't say so I was curious. Thanks for answering my question.

A GT 1030 would be ideal, as it only uses 30W. It's the most likely to be compatible of the new Nvidia cards. It is aimed at esports games, like CSGO/LoL/Dota 2/etc. It's not ideal for games like PUBG. Your i5 2400 is still good enough to make use of more powerful cards but that power supply won't support those cards. So whether a 1030 is worth it or not depends on what you hope to play. PUBG or other new cutting edge games? No, not worth it. CSGO or Overwatch? Yes, well worth it.
