I'm looking to upgrade my monitor for my gaming PC, and trying to figure out how much it can handle. The number of options is frankly dizzying.

I've been looking at 34-inch ultrawide curved monitors like the Acer Nitro:

Acer Nitro 34" QHD 3440 x 1440 1500R Curved PC Gaming Monitor | AMD FreeSync Premium | 165Hz Refresh | 1ms (VRB) | ZeroFrame Design | 2 x Display Port 1.4 & 2 x HDMI 2.0 Ports | XZ342CU Sbmiipphx

My PC specs are below:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Processor (6X 3.6GHz/32MB L3 Cache)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE B550 GAMING X - ARGB Header (2), USB 3.2 Ports (4 Type-A), M.2 Slot (2)
Memory: 16 GB [8 GB X2] DDR4-3000 Memory Module - Certified Major Brand Gaming Memory [Free Upgrade to 16GB DDR4-3200 XPG D41 RGB]
Video Card: AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT - 6GB

I'm currently using a general purpose 24-inch monitor with 60hz refresh, so anything will be an improvement, but I'd like to level up my game experience without also needing to upgrade GPU, etc.

Thanks!

Can my PC handle a 1440p monitor?
Short answer: No.

Long answer:
2K ultrawide with 165 FPS at high/ultra settings - doesn't happen
2K ultrawide with 165 FPS at medium settings - doesn't happen
2K with 144 FPS at high/ultra settings - doesn't happen
2K with ~80 FPS at medium settings - doable

So, look towards 2K (2560x1440) 120Hz monitor, and even then, you need to use medium settings, IF you want to get ~80 FPS.

Forgot to add earlier;

RX 5600 XT can do:
1080p with ~100 FPS at high/ultra settings.

So, 1080p, 120 Hz monitor is tops what to get for that GPU. Might as well forget about 2K, especially ultrawide.
