Can my PC handle a GTX 970?

Hey everyone,
So for the past 4-5 years my PC has been holding strong and handling most games I threw at it, then last night I tried The Division. A few minutes in I had to put it to the lowest settings and even then I fell through the floor entering a building because it hasn't loaded in yet, so I figure it's time to upgrade from my 560ti lol.

Currently I have an i5-2500k cpu, MSI Z68MA-ED55 mobo, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus cpu cooler and FirePower Fatal1ty 750W power supply, so my question is can my PC handle a GTX 970 if I were to buy it or would I need to change one of the mentioned parts?

Your PC should be able to handle it fine, as the power efficiency poses no threats, and your CPU should not bottleneck the card. Everything you have should perform fine with the card, however, I would wait till prices drop even more. With the 1070's release it should push the 970 into the low to mid $200 range. Some may advocate that the GTX 1070 is better, but we have to wait and see benchmarks. Until official benchmarks are released I would wait on your purchase. Overall your build will be fine.

Thank you both for your responses, just one final question. How long after its release is a good amount of time to wait for a price drop?

I wouldn't wait more than one to two weeks. Prices should stabilize out beyond that range. Again check the benchmarks to see which card is a better value, but you should be in good hands.

The price drops for the 970 and 980 should be in full swing as soon as the 1070 drops I would think. (Providing the performance to price is good)
Be sure to check out the benchmarks and reviews for the card as they should hopefully be released in a week or so in advance before the release like the 1080.
