Can my PC play games?

GPU: Sapphire AMD R9 290 TRI-X OC
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 799MHz
MOBO: Hewlett-Packard 2AF7
PSU: Corsair 750 watt

Can I run games like Battlefield 4, Far Cry 4 and possibly Crysis 3 at medium?

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as 800 MHz DDR3. It's probably dual channel, thus 1600MHz. Your computer will be able to run most games on 1080P max settings at 50+ FPS

Agreed, your RAM is 1600Mhz and that PC shouldn't struggle to play even the newest games at 1080p

Its DDR RAM though, you have to double the speed it says, DDR mean Dual (or Double) Data Ram.

Sorry to ask but is 70 Celsius an OK temperature for the graphics card?

That temperature is OK whilst the card is under load, the R9 290's are notoriously hot but the TrI-X cooler is pretty good.
