Can my PC run 1440 monitors?

Solution
You are talking about ultrawide 21:9 1440p (3440x1440) and 1080p (2560x1080) which is different than regular 16:9 1440p (2560x1440) and 1080p (1920x1080) monitors. Your GPU can handle regular 16:9 1440p but you have to drop the graphic detail settings a little bit, in order to get acceptable frame rates. On the other hand an ultrawide 21:9 1440p monitor will demand a stronger GPU, unless of course you are fine with low graphic detail settings. So if you want to get an ultrawide monitor then a 1080p one is a better fit for your current GPU. Good luck.

Thanks Panathas! If I were to upgrade my GPU to the 1070 or 1080 would be enough though?

Yes, those 2 GPUs can better handle that resolution but I suggest you wait for a month or two until the new Nvidia GPUs are released and we learn more about their real performance. Also GPU prices will probably drop even further and you may find a better GPU deal overall, especially if the new 2070 is proven to be a lot faster than the 1080. Having said that if you are able to find a 1070 or 1080 at a good price you can get one right now. The 1080 is the better choice since it can handle current and future games at that resolution. On the other hand the 1070 will probably strangle with future games and you may have to drop the graphic detail settings a lot.

Finally you can always get a new monitor today and upgrade the GPU in the near future. Good luck.
