Can My PC Run A gtx1070

Iv'e got a Intel Core i7 860 2.80GHz, 16gb ram, and a AsusTek COmputer INC model P7P55D-E Motherboard, I'm not the biggest tech guy so i'm not sure if my cpu is good enough or my motherboard etc, can anyone help? I'd really like to get a better graphics card but would hate to end up getting one that doesn't run at full performance.
I'm running a crappy PNY 1050 2gb that I got for free, but it's hardly next gen ready and could really use a performance boost with a more solid graphics card, but again just don't want to get something that won't run as well as it should etc

I was not happy with the performance of my previous i7 2600/1070 had to build the system you see below to see what the 1070 can do. 1060 would be a good last GPU for that CPU

Thanks for the speedy reply, I might end up just waiting till I get my tax return and getting a new pc all together, and will probably leave this for my gf, Good to know worst case, I can still upgrade this to 1060 without losing value

Nice! My gf got my old system too with my previous 780ti (very similar to the 1060) and we got a sweet 2 computer desk for side by side gaming.
