i want to upgrade from 1080o tp 4k can my pc run games in 4k?

specs:
Case: NZXT H440 White
CPU: Intel I5-4690k
GPU: Sapphire radeon R9 280x tri x
PSU: Corsair CX750M
RAM: HyperX Fury 8gb 1866Mhz
HDD: WD Blue 500GB. WD Blue 1 TB
MotherBoard: msi z87-g45
 


It's a bad idea unless you are playing graphically light games.

For modern games...
The R9 280X is suited to almost max out 900P and it does great on 1080P with filters, aa and settings down.
For 4K you want a GTX 980 Ti or R9 Fury minimally.
Anything under that and you will have to reduce the filters, aa and settings down significantly for a smooth experience.

I would personally recommend CrossFiring the R9 290X or just getting a GTX 980 Ti
 


If you don't mind going very low settings you'll make it work.

However for 4K 6 GB of VRAM is really a necessity for a nice experience.
 
Lowered settings help.
A 4k monitor has enough density that you can do away with AA which is a big load on the gpu.

My suggestion is to go ahead and buy your 4k monitor and see how you do.
You will always have the option to run at a lower resolution.

You have sufficient power to run a GTX980ti if that is what it takes.

And... I had no problem with vram using a GTX780 with 3gb on a 4k monitor.
