Can my PC support 2 Operating Systems??

Hey! I want to install an extra OS on my PC.
Specs:
Intel i3 2120 @3.3GHz
8 GB RAM

yeah! I was thinking about that too...but one of my 'engineer' friends recommended to keep only 1 OS on my PC . Saying that keeping 2 OS may make your PC a bit slow.
