I have a Gateway DX4860 with Intel Core i3 processor. I bought the GeForce GT 730 and plugged it in, but now my PC won't work. Now I see the card requires Intel Core i7. Short of buying a $300 plus processor, what can I do?

I'm new to upgrading my PC. Do I need an external power supply or something?

Solution
Try holding down the Del key during post (that is when you first turn a PC on). You should then get into the BIOS, where you might be able to change the default graphics adapter from the Intel integrated GPU to your new GT 730 (i.e. PCIe). You obviously will want to do that with your monitor plugged into your motherboard. Once you chnage it, you should swap the cable around.
I noticed that your other post (and my reply) has been nuked for some reason.

Yes. I tried the HDMI in the original port, and then in the card's port. Neither worked. I've removed the card and now the PC is back to normal (booted up, running fine). Someone else said something about BIOS or something...I can't find their post now. Honestly, I'm having trouble navigating this post system, but that's besides the point.
