So im getting artifacts dots and lines all over the screen during games. I set and rma on my rx 480 but im just making sure that it is the gpu so i dont have to waste money on shipping for the 480.

Solution
Yes it's probably the GPU responsible for those issues. But there are four things that you should do before RMAing the GPU.

Especially if your GPU is relatively new, you should:

1) Try using another monitor cable. Bad cables could deteriorate image quality.
2) Try using another monitor/TV just in case you have a bad display device.
3) Try another PSU. A bad PSU that provides bad power to the GPU may cause such issues.
4) Finally monitor the GPU temp and make sure that it doesn't overheat. GPU overheating could cause artifacts.

have you changed the voltage settings for the rx 480 since you bought it ? if you have this maybe the issue .

if that is the 8gb version , i am surprised at your temperatures .. at factory settings.. the rx 480 red devil 8gb has a target temp of 80c and a max of 90c .

assuming you built this pc yourself and you know how to work safely inside of the case ?

on the red devil there is a little switch that turns the overclock mode off and runs in silent mode .. you could move the switch and see if it makes a difference .

ive done that too

ive tried that and i have a evga supernova 550w 80+Gold this is my first pc build

does your motherboard have a 2nd pcie slot ? the psu should be ok.. does it have model number such as g2 g3 ?

Your PSU is very good and since you have tried everything, I think it's time to RMA that GPU. Good luck.

EDIT: Also as someone else pointed out, before RMAing the GPU, you should try using another PCIe slot, if you happen to have one available on your board.

no my mobo does not have another and i just sent my mobo in for a bios update and its g2

nice quality psu :) we could have taken you through updating your bios . i agree with the above poster that you have done everything within your power .

Ok well thank you all for the help i will rma it. 🙂
