can my power supply handle an r9 290?

Hi, I wanted to know if my power supply could handle an r9 290, my original plan about 4 months ago was to get the r9 280, but then I got caught up in something else, so I had to spend my funds on a new server for my home, it was about $3000 for the parts. But anyways I only bought the XFX TS 550w back in the summer when it went for $25 so it was a really good deal. But now I'm worried that I won't have enough power for my fx 8350 and the 290 if I get it. I plan on running this card full blast for about 6-8 hours a day for work. This isn't for gaming btw, this is for work purpose.

No bro, you need a minimum 850 watts PSU for your system. But I recommend a 1000 watts PSU for running your system stabilized. With an 850 watt. PSU, the chances of system crashing are more. Good luck bro.

Your 550W XFX TS will run it... It is a decent quality psu. It is rather close. 650W is better but the 550W can definitely run it.

A R9 290 will consume 265 Watts averagely.
