Can my PSU run Radeon HD 7770 ?

Hi all

my pc specifications

AMD Athlon 7750 Dual Core 2.70GHz
2GB RAM DDR2
Nvidia Geforce 9600GT DDR3 512mb
Motherboard: Biostar NF520-A2 TE
PowerSupply: 450w

I am trying to upgrade my processor , 2GB RAM more, and Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 7770, 1 GB, DDR5

Now i am wondering will my PSU be able to run this new graphics card normally?

I don't think your PSU is 450W - the picture shows ratings from 200W to 350W - which ones is yours? The HD7770 is very power efficient and probably uses less power than your existing 9600GT so you should be fine.

You should be able to run a 7770 with that psu, the card requirement
is 400w, and that has headroom built in. Even tho you have only
26a(312w) on the +12v rail, the tot sys power draw with a 7770
is approx 250w.

As long as it delivers what it says, You are good to go.

That is far from a power hungry system and the 7770(The GTX 650 ti is another card that can game on low power ) is one of the most power efficient cards that can actually pull off some med/high gaming.

Ran a 5770 fine on a power supply with 22 amps @ 12 volts(300 watt ) and that took more power then your system(yet was unable to break 180 at the wall under extreme stress).

Please keep an eye on the system in general(for any strange behavior) as I have never heard of that PSU maker.

Almost any card will work with that CPU. Very high end ones may start to be bottle necked(the cpu will not be able to feed the card fast enough limiting performance of the card) by the cpu on some games.

If you are talking from a power perspective, I would watch out only due to the older design of the power supply and rather unknown maker.

Also the 965 is a rather power hungry cpu(just because of its age. It is rated at 125 watts vs 95 watts of many newer equally or more powerful cpus). In my tests. It was not too bad to be honest(I had the 955BE).
