Can my system handle a GTX 1080?

Hello. I want to slowly make my system a better editing/colour grading/gaming machine and I want to start with the video card, because it's the main bottleneck in my system. I am thinking of getting the Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 as the 1080ti is close to £1000 and I don't think I'll spend this amount of money on a GPU. I was wondering if my system would function fine with the card (Until I decide to upgrade the rest of my components which could happen after few months). My current specs are:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz

GPU: ASUS R9 280 Series (not relevant to the question :D)

RAM:16 GB DDR3

PSU: FSP Hyper 700w

Motherboard: Gigabyte H97-HD3

As far as I'm aware the card will fit in the case and the motherboard supports it. What I'm worried about is the PSU. Please tell me if you think the system will run the 1080.

And right you were to worry. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151118 Is what I use with my 1080 Ti/4690K. The 4790K is still a contender with today's games and higher end GFX card. It can handle the 1080. The issue will be the 6 pin connectors on your PSU. Most use at least 1 8 pin(6+2 or 8) PCIe supplementary power connector. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139147 is another option. The 1080 only asks for a 500W PSU.

I think I have at least one. I have to check though. Is it possible to order one from amazon and use it?

Probably 1080p. I'll also use it for 4k editing and colour grading. Probably

Possible? Absolutely. Recommended? Absolutely not.

There is a PCIe adapter that needs 2 molex connectors.

I strongly recommend a new PSU.

So I opened my case to see what connection my current PSU has and I can see that it has two 6+2 pins and I'm guessing that should be enough for the 1080?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104015 I looked at the wrong PSU. http://www.fsplifestyle.com/PROP161000052/ also appears to be the wrong PSU. This is why specifics help. Your PSU does have a make and model. Offering that eliminates guesswork on my part.
