I bought D-Link DIR600M few days back and I just can not connect it to my pc. when I connect one end of the cable to my laptop everything goes fine, I can configure everything and even work the way its supposed to be but whenever I take it to my pc, I cant access the ip that was provided. let alone the rest of the setup. i changed my tcp/ip settings so that it can figure out ip address automatically but it doesn't seem to help.

Do you have your desktop wired into the router right now?
I assume your laptop is wired in right now too and that is what you're using?
Sorry for all the questions but there will be quite a few since it's necessary for me to know this stuff.

most new routers have 5 ports. one is a wan port that will not work to log into the router and 4 reg ports numbered 1-4. also look at the ethernet cable your using some are straight through wired some are cross over. using the wrong cable will cause issues. lok at the back of your pc and the router there should be a blinking led on both if the right cable is used and there moving data from one to the other. also if your pc has wifi and ethernet you may have to turn off wifi card to get the ethernet port to work right.

What he said... An easy fix would be you having wifi enabled.
