Hello,

I have a win2000 server and i have the following problem. From the win2000
server i can see the entire network but i can not see the win2000 server
from a client pc. When i ping to the win2000 server i get an answer but i
can not make a mapping to the server. However i can use a remote desktop
software(netop) to reach the server.

What can be the problem? Please help!

Thx in advance,

Johan

What happens when you try? You'll need to bind "File and Printer Sharing" to
the connection. Control Panel|Network|"connection"|Properties

When i use "net use" it takes a while but then the client gives up with the
message, network path not found.

What happens if you try using the IP address instead of the server name? If
this works it may be a wins and or dns issue.

Is "File and Printer Sharing" bound to the connection? Control
Panel|Network|"connection"|Properties

Dear Johan,

What's ur client OS? Is ur client logon to the domain? Is ur client using another domain? Is ur client sitting on a diferent network? R u using VLAN? U can ping doesn't mean u can map drive. Is the workstation n Netlogon service on ur server is running? Can u try on another client?

U can use the free VNC for remote access. Install VNC server on the server n install VNC client on the client.

Regards,
Routie
