I overclocked my ASUS VN247 a couple of days ago to 74Hz and I saw one dead pixel on my monitor that I haven't noticed before.

Is it possible that overclocking can cause dead pixels or am I just being paranoid?
Also, I have only heard vaguely that it 'just damages' your display. What exactly are the damages that can be done by overclocking a display?
