I have just bought 2 PWM fans but all of my CPU fan headers are full. Can I plug the PWM fans into the regular system fan headers and still have speed control?

Thanks

Solution
you can plug the fan in, and it will spin, but at full speed.
But, if your motherboard has DC fan control, then motherboard can control the speed by adjusting the voltage. If your motherboard don't have that feature, then you need to get yourself some fan speed reducer adapters, which essentially reduced the supplied voltage.
If your motherboard is fairly new, then it should have the feature either via bios or from the motherboard manufacturer website via their software package (usually it's one of the features in a software, you might not see a dedicated software for fan control, so dig around and read its description). My old B85m board had a software called appcentre from Gigabyte that had the smart fan control tool built into the...

Im waiting on the fans i just checked NewEgg and they are on the way. The fans that I wanted were PWM and I wasnt thinking about how they would work on sys fan headers. Gues ill find out

Thanks
