Hello, I've had a 1.5TB Freecom external HDD for a few years now (has Samsung innards I believe) and it has worked great since. About 2 days ago, I tried to write some files to the drive, but it won't write at all. I can read fine from the drive and disk checking utilities all report that there is no bad sectors on the drive. There is definitely no permission problems. I also have done a deep format, checked different file-systems (NTFS as well as ext4). I have also created a new partition table (msdos(mbr) and gpt) to no avail. Is there any more tests I can run? Should I get a new HDD? Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi there Cube777,

What OS are you using? Try formatting it to FAT32 as it is read/write compatible with both Win and Mac.
Have you tried something simple as just changing the USB cable as well as the USB port? In not, you can do so. It may be a good idea to try it on another computer as well.

Cheers,
