Can recover lost key

Hey guys. A couple months back my brother gave me his old laptop which had W8 preinstalled.

Because it had a few problems; broken hinge, bad LVDS cable... so on, I removed its HDD and formatted it so it could be used on my current PC.

Is there any way I can recover the W8 licence?

It's an Acer Aspire V3-571G from Dec. 2012.

You would need to recover it either from the hard drive or the sticker that's typically on the laptop.

What are you trying to do with the Windows 8 license? The only place it would be useful would be in this particular laptop with this exact motherboard.

Windows key might be embedded in BIOS of the laptop.

Good point, I too quickly assumed the laptop was dead and not being used.

I would note that the Windows 8 license is attached to that laptop and cannot be used on another system.
