Hey all,

I'm finally in a position where I have the space to use a desktop again. I've been out of the loop for some time so I'm not entirely sure what's what these days, but based on my limited research I've come to the conclusion that I want to avoid companies with poor reputation for their customer service and warranty.

The idea behind this build is that it lasts me close to 5 years, with minimal, if any upgrades along the way. I'm looking to get into 1440p gaming, possibly stream and dabbling in other cpu heavy applications. The theme I'm going for is white, with some rgb but not dead set on all white.

Here's my potential (budget conscious) build so far:

is there anything I could improve on? substitutions? money saving areas? I'm at a tossup with the PSU being white or black.I have most peripherals, and will upgrade to a 27" monitor in the near future.

I'm at a tossup with the PSU being white or black
The Y60 mounts the PSU in behind the motherboard so it really shouldn't matter what color you go with here as the internals are still black so just get a good quality one with a good warranty and wattage you need.

The MSI board combo has better DRAM so if these two are your options pick that one.

Normally I'd suggest looking at a 13600/14600 system as it'd be largely better for the same price, but those combo deals seem like a good discount.

Depending on how important RGB on the fans are you might be able to cut cost on the fans. I'm also not sure filling all the fan slots while using an air cooler is a good idea on that case.

Thanks, I just realized after watching some build videos haha. Now I'm having second thoughts about this or the nzxt h9

Those combos are really great value, but I'd go for the first one, it's a better motherboard (not that I have an issue with the Gigabyte gaming X AX), but the RAM timings are too slow on the 2nd build.

I also agree you're looking to spend way too much on case fans, there must be cheaper options which look as nice.
