[SOLVED] Can/should I upgrade my monitor considering my GPU?

Hey

I have a five year old Asus laptop which i use to play CSGO and I connect to an old monitor. My laptops specs are the following

CPU: Intel Core i7-5500U
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 940M (2GB DDR3)
DISPLAY: 13.3”, QHD+ (3200 x 1800), IPS
STORAGE: 256GB SSD
RAM: 8GB DDR3

If i would connect my laptop to a 144 hz monitor, would it be able to run it as it does right now? Right now i get 100+ fps
Ive been told to check the GPU manual but I have no idea what to look for

If you are running the game at the same resolution and settings the framerate wont be changed.

So i could easily upgrade to a 144 hz monitor and experience a smoother gameplay?

Does it matter that the GPU is a dedicated GPU?
