Can single channel memory run on Z77 Extreme 6 Boards?

Hello,
I own a ASROCK Z77 Extreme 6 motherboard which is designed to run Dual Channel Memories.
Unfortunately, dual channel memories are not available as yet in India - My preferred brands were Corsair and Kingston - I had no option but to buy CMZ8GX3M1A1600 C10 - 8 GB DDR3 -02Nos - I want to know whether this will give me the desired performance at par with a dual Channel 8GB RAM.
What is the great advantage in having a Dual Channel RAM in place of a Single Channel RAM?

your mother board designed on dual channel so it is better to buy tow RAM sticks than 4.
