Can someone help me make a decision regarding my gaming pc?

- I have an opportunity to upgrade my gaming pc and I am faced with two options (my budget is around 800 CAD). I can either upgrade to a 1070 ti or get the Ryzen 5 1600 with a new mobo and 16 Gb of ddr4 ram. My current build is a stock Fx-8350 with a 970 and 16 GB of ddr3 ram. Which option should I take, my main goal is to increase game performance on my computer. Should I get the new processor and improve the performance of my 970 or should I get the new gpu at the expense of a little bottlenecking? On a side note, I have a 600W psu so that should be fine for either decision I make right?

Defiently upgrade your cpu, the 970 is plenty capable and upgrading to a 1600 will greatly improve performance, perhaps consider the 2600 with a better heatsink for overclocking if you can. I just upgraded to ryzen and it cost me around $450

dont upgrade what you have, the 8350 cant keep up with a modern gpu like that
in cpu bound cases it cant even feed that gtx 970 properly

its time for a complete new build

either an i5 8400 or a ryzen 2600 ( if work is more important than gaming )

the 1600 is also obsolete

I don't think I need a new build, by what you're saying I'll just go for the cpu upgrade instead.

Here's what I've decided to get:
- MSI X470 Plus AM4 MOBO
- G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16 GB DDR4 SDRAM 3000
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600

These should be fine right? Or are there any suggestions? Also, I have a Hyper 212 Evo (ordered the AM4 mounting kit already) which I will use with the 2600 so I think I'm good on that front.

The cooler that comes with the CPU is better than the 212 EVO.

What PSU is it that you have NOW.

I seriously doubt that. I'm using it regardless. I have a 600W so I know I'm good on that front

the amd cooler IS better

the 212 is a budget level cooler that is long since obsolete with more modern choices like the cryorig h7
