can someone help with installing windows 7?

when installing windows 7 on my new computer it is asking me for cd/dvd drive drivers. i am using a hp dvd300e external dvd drive and i cannot find the drivers to install on windows 7. is this cd drive too old to use on windows 7, or can somebody point me to a download link for the drivers?

Drivers are probably not the problem.

Did you go into the BIOS and check if it has a "Boot from USB" option?

If it dose, is it set for first boot?

the cd boots fine and the windows installer opens, it tells me to select a language but then says that a cd/dvd drive drive must be installed before proceeding

i would do that but i dont have a usb storage large enough to hold the file with me right now

Never seen that before.

I see now, it is 11 years old, so there may not be drivers.
Hp is the only one that will have them.

I don't think any device 11 years old will have win7 drivers.

I have gateways newer than that, and there are no win 7 drivers.

If HP has Vista drivers that might work, but you can buy an internal DVD, for usually $14, at NewEgg.

usb stick only has to be 4g in size.
