I need a good recommendation for a gaming CPU for around $1,200 total. I'm not going to build my own rig, don't need a monitor. I've looked around, but thought I'd ask here if anyone has any good suggestions?

Basically I'm looking for best bang for the buck in your good opinion, thanks!

Most retail PCs skimp on the video card, which is the most important part of a gaming PC. They also rarely come with solid state hard drives, which are most important for general system responsiveness.

Not much better. If you refuse to build your own you're better off going to something like cyberpowerpc to build it for you. You're still spending more than you would if you did it yourself but you can choose which parts you want.

Something like this would be good for gaming. If $1275 is too high save about $200 by switching to an RX 480 8gb or GTX 1060.:

Your boot and load times will be noticeably faster with a SSD. Performance during gameplay would likely be minimal once the game actually loaded.

If you are planning on playing at 1080p or lower you could easily save $200 by dropping down to an RX480 8gb or GTX1060 and still get great performance. The GTX 1070 in the build is really only needed if you plan on playing at 1440p or using it for VR.

I'm a fan of the PC uguv has configured. it uses pretty much the same components I would've selected. I also concur with dropping down to a GTX 1060 or RX 480 if it's outside of your budget.

Thanks for the help! I'll consult with the boss (wife) and see if I can get the green light. Wish me luck..
