I honestly thank anyone that can help me out here this has been consuming my life for days. I have 2 computers which both have Steam. One is an older one that I built with a GTX 670 and I have a newer one that I recently built with a GTX 1080 Ti.

I recently downloaded Shadow of War and installed it on the newer computer and when I go to play it it has absolutely no sound whatsoever. The sound on the computer works for everything else though including Youtube, other Steam games, and pretty much everything else. It just refuses to play sound for Shadow of War. I've adjusted the settings in game but nothing. I've tried things like running the game as an admin and running Steam as an admin but nothing. Now the extremely odd part is I happened to go onto my older computer and log into Steam and saw that I thankfully didn't have to download Shadow of War onto that to play so I figured what the heck let me just play it and it did some linking thing but it played on my older computer and worked with SOUND!!!!

I can't for the life of me figure out why it would work on the older computer but not my newer one. I've tried swapping the speakers out and everything, but nothing that I do works. I've even uninstalled the updated GeForce drivers on my newer computer to roll them back to the same drivers that were running on my older computer and nothing. My mind is just boggled!

Can someone please please help me out here???? I'm damn near begging. I'll give you guys any info you need.

Solution
Ok so presumably that's line out that's on your motherboard.
Try this. Right click on your speakers in your audio settings, select properties-advanced and try different sample rate and bit depth and see if it makes any difference for that game.
If it doesn't help, try going to your motherboard manufacturer, to your mobo support page and get latest audio drivers and install them.

Into the 'Line Out' port in back of the tower. I have just a regular set of speakers with a little sub in which one green audio wire gets connected into the Line Out port of my tower. Everything else works fine though. Every other Steam game works fine and just the overall sound is fine. It's just this one game that has no sound.

OH CMON!!! How can we refuse to try and help your tortured mind.

Do you have a Steam controller?

When you right click on your volume icon and click on Playback devices and then click on your active sound device and then click on configure and finally click on Advanced do you see allow devices to take exclusive control checked? Uncheck it.

Within Steam can you right click on the game, click on Local Files tab and then Verify Integrity?

Any changes?

Haha the picture of that cat has been me for the past 4 days lol. It's just a little embarrassing because I know enough to literally put these computers together but when it comes to technical stuff like this I just can't figure it out. And every time I come across a potential fix online and it doesn't work it's just crushing lol. At this point its like screw the game I just want to figure this out.

I don't have a Steam controller though I just use my gaming keyboard. I unchecked the exclusive control option and tried it and it didn't work unfortunately.

Did you verify integrity?

Within the game is Stereo or Surround selected within the sound options?

It does seem to be the game's fault.

The bit rate suggestion(lowering it) above, Uninstalling Realtek audio or changing the in-game audio options have fixed the issue for some. There doesn't yet seem to be a singular fix or hotfix.

Okay will do. I've tried messing with the sample rate and changed it to CD or DVD quality which hasn't worked but I'm going to try it again. I have a Maximus Hero motherboard so I'll def go now to try and update the drivers

I've tried verifying the integrity and uninstalling the game before which didn't work sadly because I thought reinstalling it would. I'm currently trying it on Stereo but I've also tried Surround and even tried using it with multiple headsets with the 'Headphone' option within the game. I've seen a bunch of different solutions working for other people but it just seems like nothing will work for me. When I bring up my device manager I don't see Realtek audio I'm actually not sure what I have to be honest.

Thank you guys by the way for taking the time out to try and help me out here. I appreciate it.

If you right click on the volume icon near your taskbar and select playback devices, does it not list your speakers?
If you go into properties and then again properties, it should list drivers. If you hit view all events, it'll give you a list of relevant events in the event viewer though I doubt anything would show up for a single game.

So I looked up my motherboards latest audio drivers and there's one from 06/07/17 which is 'Version 6.0.1.8158
2017/06/07470.06 MBytes Realtek Audio Driver Realtek Audio Driver V6.0.1.8158 for Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 10 64-bit.' Should I download that one?

Yeah it says 'Speaker' High Definition Audio Device. I have the Event Viewer up in the Audio Properties but I don't really know how to use it.
