There is a bug in a game which required you to suddenly unplug ethernet cable, would this damage hardware?

I wouldn't think that myself, but one guy told me that his neighbor ruined his Mobo with this..

Removing the Ethernet cable would cause no issue.

Now if you had EMI/static electicity when you pulled it out that could cause an issue.

The Ethernet port is the most common thing to fry in a motherboard after the PSU kills power as it is not grounded and still connected to an electric device (the switch or the router).

Static electricity from myself, when pulling out the cable?

And for your last sentence, that's when if I would plug out PSU, before any other wire, when the switch is still being powered?

Okay, so as long as I don't have a lot of static energy built up in me, there is little possibility of hardware damage?
