Can\'t get my printer to not say offline

Before getting a new Netgear wireless Gateway, my HP6000 wireless printer was always on line. Now it defaults to "offline" and before I can print I have to manually go to Control Panel, click on printers and then right click and select "Use printer on line." It then goes to "ready." How can I fix it so that it STAYS ready without having to manually select ready every time I turn on my HP laptop running Vista???
