can the asus gtx 1060 fit in the gigabyte ga-h110m-a since the motherboard it self looks pretty small while the card looks relatively big.

motherboard doesn't determine GPU limit, the case does. So it will fit the motherboard, but whether or not it fits the case is what's important.
