Can the CPU cooler be mounted in a different direction?

Hey guys, I posted on here a while ago about my CPU cooler problems of it being too large to fit with the RAM location on the motherboard.

Well I ordered a smaller one today, and turns out, same problem. The side of the fan of the CPU cooler, hits the RAM.

Is it okay if I just turn the cpu cooler so the fan is facing another way? I cant get both the CPU cooler and the RAM in at the same time unless I do.

Just wanted to be sure before I messed anything up.

Thanks everyone!

You could more than likely change way the cooler is facing just check the arrows on the fans to see how the airflow is being directed. If you can get decent airflow through your case you shouldn't really see a huge impact in temp changes.
Some can be turned to face up/down as opposed to the traditional front/back configuration. It really depends on what cooler you bought though as not all of them will do this.

Also is it possible for you to raise the fans position on the heatsink itself up so that it clears the RAM or is it the heatsink itself that is touching the RAM?

Well it's kinda hard to imagine your situation without any info about cooler model,
motherboard model. Some pictures would certainly help.

But anyway - you propably can mount cooler in different direction.
It would impact temperatures for sure (most likely in a negative way).

Thanks guys,

I kinda figured as long as I was pointing the fan in an appropriate direction, it would be fine, but again, just wanted to be sure before I was about to fudge something up.

Appreciate the help everyone!
