Hello, I'm interested in getting a gtx 1070 but I want to make sure my motherboard is compatible with it. My motherboard model is a H81M-P33 (MS-7817). Is it compatible?
the GPU will work, but unless you have soemthing like an Intel Core I5 4690 or I7 4770, there would be little point in doing so. Most other CPU's for that socket would bottleneck that GPU. It would be a waste.
Ok, thank you I have an I7 4790 so it should work, right?
Yes, you'll be fine with a i7-4790. As for your motherboard, give you're running Haswell on it, you'll have an updated BIOS so you should be able to just put the 1070 in and not have to worry about doing updates to make it work. If for some reason the card isn't recognized, update to the latest version of BIOS available.
