Hi guys!
I have an i5 4690k in my gaming PC and will soon be building a custom case. I am gonna sell my i5 4690k and get an i3 4170 due to power supply restrictions (need full system PSU load to be 150 watts) and will be pairing the i3 with a gtx 1050. I recently got the NH-L9i to cool the i3 however I have not been able to sell the i5 and get the i3 yet so I want to use the Noctua cooler for the i5 since I am selling my previous cooler, which was a Corsair H100i v2. I have one exhaust fans and two intake fans in the Fractal Design Nano S. I am mini-itx of course and recently noticed that while on idle my CPU idles at 37-40 degrees and my motherboard is the same as the CPU. My GPU, ram, and hdd/ssd are all normal but the CPU has me worried. With my previous cooler it idled at around 25 degrees and never went above 50 during gaming and so on. Would the Noctua cooler be sufficient for temporary usage? I can get the i3 in a couple weeks or maybe I will upgrade to Kaby Lake. Anyhow would my PC be okay? I have to sell the Corsair cooler since I can't use it in my new build. Any thoughts?

Many thanks in advance!!

I suspect it will be sufficient. You can disable turbo boost in BIOS if you need to temporarily lower your temps, or lower the multiplier to underclock if possible. I really don't think any of that will be necessary though if running at stock frequency.
I am running at stock settings. I might use it this evening and just simply install the AIO tomorrow. I can't install it this evening unfortunately. I will still keep the Noctua for the i3 but use the Corsair AIO for my i5 later on. Cheers!
