Can the OS support animated mouse cursors?

I'm having a hard time finding this on google, all i see are cursors specifically to add on to blog site.

I'm planning on trying to create one but not sure the OS will display it animated?

I want animated cursors... not that i use them on desktop but if they were animated, I might.

I figured out how. I used a software called AniTuner, can make a 32x32 gif into a .ani file that can be used as an animated cursor.
