Can the Palit GeForce GTX 670 work with this board?

Hi all...
I asked the same question on yahoo and got 2 reply's one yes and one no.

Can I use Palit Geforce GTX 670 with Asus P8z68 Board?

This is the board

The board is PCIe 2 and the card is PCIe 3
I bought both and am afraid if it doesnt work it might ruin the system

Yes, pcie 3.0 is fully backwards compatible with previous pcie, and with 2.0 there's no bottleneck or loss of performance(as long it's x16).

Yes it will work no problem. I have never seen a PCI-e 3 card fail to work on an older pci-e 2 board.

to go with the board and gtx670
Willl 750W run it okay?
Should I opt for thermal cooling or will the standard fans be ok?

750w is plenty for a 670 gtx, a good psu with 750w has juice for two 670 gtx oc.
And your psu is a decent one, no problems.
About the cooling of the card it depends on your case airflow, blower style is good if you don't have much/any.

The gtx 670 is a 170 watt part
The i7 is a 77watt part
So thats only 247 watts at max load.
Add in the board ram drives and fans say another 50 watts and your at 300 Watts max load.
Your PSU is more than enough.

Then get a 670 gtx with dual fan, like a MSI 670 gtx PE or a EVGA 670 gtx FTW Signature 2(that's if you can pay the extra £).
