Hey everybody!

This is my configuration:
i7 7700K // NZXT Kraken X62
2x Samsung SM960 EVO 250GB RAID 0 // SSD 850 PRO 256GB // WD Black 2TB
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3
G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3600MHz [17-18-18-38 / 2T]
Asus ROG Strix 1070 8GB OC Edition
Asus ROG Strix Z270E Gaming
Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

My question is, is my CPU overclock good at 4.8 @ 1.280 with temps around 80-85 (average 79 on the hottest core) with some spikes up to 90?

I couldn't push it further to get stable with Aida64's System Stability Test stressing it for about 10 minutes. I'm about to delid it soon and will give it a try. I guess I'll be able to push it stable to 5GHz with some acceptable temps.

Cheers.

I would say you would want to keep it below this. As per @CompuTronix Intel Temperature Guide:

Here's the nominal operating range for Core temperature:

Core temperatures above 85°C are not recommended.

Core temperatures below 80°C are ideal.

Core temperatures increase and decrease with Ambient temperature
.

Idle temperatures below 25°C are generally due to Ambient temperatures below 22°C.

Highest Core temperatures occur during stress tests or heavy rendering and transcoding, but are lower during less processor intensive apps. Gaming generally averages around 55°C, yet can range from 40 to 70°C, depending on how a particular game title allocates CPU / GPU workloads, as well as differences in overall cooling performance and Ambient temperature.
