Can this Bios Chip Be Removed from a Motherboard

Can this type of Bios chip be removed from a motherboard and updated with a bios writer of some kind, or is it usually the end of the motherboard if the chip gets corrupted?

The laptop wont boot up so no acess to the cd rom or usb ports etc. Tried various keyboard functions and changing bios settings all with no success.

Yes it ca be removed but requires special tools and even more special (re-balling tool) to solder it on. Not a home job for sure.
