can this damage my mobo?

i got a GTX 680 gtx directcu II it works great, but i noticed it is too close to that square in the mobo, idk what is it or if it is just for the looks, the thing is that the 680 gets up to 65C while playing and im wondering if it can cause some damage to the motherboard

im talking bout

that square with the dragon and the MSI logo

wait i don't get you, my english is not that advance, care to explain please? my concern is about the heat on the chipset since the 680 covers all the chipset, and there's a space between them but is so little less tan 1CM

It's a southbridge I/O shield and is there for that very reason. To protect from heat damage.
