You'll be good with that board, could you give the name of your PSU?

So I would be fine to keep this current motherboard just for a bit? I'm on a budget, but I will look into that motherboard down the road.
EDIT: Didnt see you asnwered the watt thing, whoops.

Oh, I was just assuming you hadn't bought the motherboard yet. In that case, you can keep your motherboard as long as you want. No need for a BIOS update, it has the (FX) badge next to it. You're all set. Just plop the new processor in, no need for a better one.

Looking online, I've seen that the current CPU I have (FX-4300) is better than the FX-6300 for gaming. Is this true? If so, what is a good CPU for gaming with high FPS in games like GTA V for $100 or less? And if it's not true, is it much of an upgrade.

Since you say I should keep the 4300 and just upgrade the GPU, I will have more money and will upgrade to a 290. Will I at least get better frames even though the 4300 is a bottleneck? Like, in GTA V, is it possible I could get 60 FPS?

I only have about $300 to spend. Both the 970 and 290x add up to about 400 with tax. Nevertheless thank you for helping me.
