It should, assuming a single 1080p monitor or lower. Even if you had a 1600p monitor, it would play it, just not at maxed settings. Your system may not be best for playing at maxed settings, but you should be able to handle at least medium to high settings.

Nope I havn't bought anything yet, what do you suggest?

Intel CPU and a power supply that won't explode is a good bet. Also spend much more on the graphics card then the CPU ie a Pentiun G series with a 7850 is better for gaming and should play skyrim maxed @ 1920 x 1080.

It will easily BUT Instead of a 990FX mobo get a 970FX And use the spare money for a better CPU (FX-8350) and a better video card if you can afford it (7870 or 7850).

There is no much difference between the 990 and 970 mobos unless you are thinking of doing crossfire....

I have the FX8350 and Video card 7870 with an Asus 970X mobo and I can play skyrim and other games MAXED OUT.

I do agree that the money spent is too high for yours....I spend less than $700 building my system.....
Do not focus much on High priced motherboards......As I said a better CPU and better Video card will go much further in terms of gaming....
